Organization of the Arab Conference on the “New Pact for the Mediterranean”

Professor Mohamed Boukhari, President of the Algerian National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (NESEC), in his capacity as President of the Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions, chaired an Arab conference on the morning of Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The conference, dedicated to discussing the "New Pact for the Mediterranean," was held via videoconference as part of the Union's 2026 action plan.

The proceedings brought together presidents and representatives of the Union's member councils and institutions, alongside delegates from the Arab Labor Organization, as well as several experts and academics. They contributed to enriching the discussion and exchanging views on the various dimensions of the New Pact for the Mediterranean.

The "New Pact for the Mediterranean" is an initiative launched by the European Union in October 2025, aimed at strengthening cooperation and partnership with southern Mediterranean countries and further consolidating relations between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
